Blue Joad (Dale) is a solo acoustic/percussive artist who performs solo acoustic/percussive compositional arrangements of well-known songs.
These arrangements encompass multiple parts of the songs using vocals, acoustic guitar, stomp box, harmonica, ukulele, and didgeridoo.
Blue Joads primary goal at each show is to encourage audience interaction, his catch cry is “sing it, if you know it; wing it if you don’t”.
Blue Joad is an experienced artist having worked around Australia as a solo performer, and also in duo’s and bands. He has also worked with national and international artists in the music and film industries.
The name BLUE JOAD is born from the essence and inventiveness of the early itinerate and dust bowl era blues, roots, and folk musicians. This was a time when ‘making something out of nothing’ was vital for survival.
These musicians made communal and interactive music with their voice and bodies, and whatever they could lay their hands on; not necessarily always instruments.
Using predominantly his voice, acoustic guitar and stomp box, and sometimes adding harmonica, ukulele, and didgeridoo; Blue Joad applies this basic principle to the rock, pop, reggae, funk, blues, country, folk, etc music he performs.
This self-reliant and broad pallet approach, allows for responsive interaction with the audience, at any given performance.
